UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - Jan. 14, 2002 -
Diverse Technologies Corporation (DTC), a dynamic professional
services provider to private industry and federal, state and local governments announced today the appointment of Stephen Mills as President.
Mills will be responsible for DTC’s
day-to-day operations and for leading the development and execution of the company’s three core areas of business: information technology, financial management and logistics support.
“Stephen brings the leadership, vision and
commitment to excellence that are at the focal point of what makes
Diverse Technologies unique,” said O. Tyrone Barnett, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of DTC. “He is a dedicated professional
whose innovative ideas and commitment to quality will propel Diverse
Technologies into a new forum. Under Stephen’s leadership, Diverse Technologies will continue its tradition as a company that provides its clients cost-effective solutions and outstanding quality.”
Mills, who began with the company in 1997 as
an operations consultant, is best recognized for leading DTC to a
successful graduation from the Small Business Administration’s 8 (a)
program in January 2000 and for developing new markets in the
information technology field. His skill and vision at DTC helped develop a telecommunications division that supports advanced DSL technology and wireless communications.
Prior to joining DTC, Mills spent 21 years
in the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring in 1989. He was then hired
as a technician to help the government analyze avionics solutions for the V-22 Tilt Rotor Aircraft and to evaluate logistical support data.
Mills began his military career in the
electrical engineering field. He soon moved forward to aviation
electronics, where he was responsible for the oversight of aircraft maintenance programs, covering both fixed wing and helicopter aircraft.
Mills also worked in the Navy’s research and
development laboratory in China Lake, Calif., with civilian
engineering personnel developing missile seeker technology for the
Army’s laser-guided artillery shell known as the “Copperhead,” the Navy’s Hellfire Missile program and the “Aim 9M Sidewinder Missile” program.
Mills’ military career consisted of several
trips overseas, including one tour in Vietnam. He was honored with
three decorations, including two Navy Achievement Medals and one
Navy Commendation Medal, for his work in the electronics engineering field. He left the military to pursue a career in business management.
“At Diverse Technologies Corporation,
Stephen has been an integral part in overseeing DTC’s work as the
only small business in the U.S. to be awarded a contract to work on
the largest financial system in the world -- the Navy’s Standard
Accounting & Reporting System,” said Barnett. “Stephen also has
helped transcend DTC’s expertise in technology at the federal level
and integrate it into the state and local levels, including Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and the commercial markets.”
Through its talented staff and innovative
methodologies, Diverse Technologies Corporation serves customers in three core areas of business: information technology, financial management and logistics support.
DTC is a recognized and preferred partner
with a number of large-scale companies, including Accenture, Deloitte & Touche, SAIC, Microsoft, Oracle, Cognos, Grant Thorton, KPMG, Resource Consultants Inc. (RCI) and Unisys.
Privately held, DTC is based in Upper
Marlboro, Md., near Baltimore-Washington International Airport and
is minutes away from Washington, D.C. It also has operations offices in Lexington Park, Md., Mechanicsburg, Pa., and San Diego, Calif.
