O. Tyrone Barnett Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Under the direction and leadership of founder O. Tyrone Barnett, Diverse Technologies Corporation (DTC) has experienced tremendous growth and received numerous accolades. As chairman and chief executive officer, Mr. Barnett develops the company's long-term strategic plans and represents Diverse Technologies in its day-to-day relationships with the community and the government and private sector industry. Mr. Barnett has many years of technical experience working with the Department of Defense (DOD) in the areas of information technology, finance and logistics. Previously, Mr. Barnett served 20 years in the U.S. Navy where he held a variety of leadership and management positions related to supply systems and logistical planning for the Navy. He also developed programs for research and development in the Navy that were used by the Navy Fleet to improve its operations. He also was responsible for the preparation of Navy nuclear tests and the development of internal review procedures to ensure proper disposal of nuclear waste. Mr. Barnett's background in the Navy also includes extensive experience in the administration of planning and budgeting for various telecommunications programs. In the area of logistics, his experience ranged from managing Navy shipyard industrial material operations to managing repairs. Throughout Mr. Barnett's military career, his work consistently produced cost-effective solutions and efficient programs for the Navy. He retired in 1986 as a Navy Commander, Supply Corps. Mr. Barnett received a bachelor's of science degree in biology from Ohio State University and a master's degree in administration education from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. He also completed various courses in graduate studies and basic management of DOD acquisition contracts. In addition, he completed numerous DOD courses on the topics of test and evaluation, engineering data analysis, system acquisition and research and development. |
Stephen Mills President Stephen Mills joined Diverse Technologies Corporation (DTC) in July 1997 as chief operating officer, bringing 30 years of experience in military and private sector business. In late 2001, he also was named president of the company. Mr. Mills is responsible for the company's day-to-day operations and for leading the development and execution of DTC's three core areas of business: information technology, financial management and logistics support. Mr. Mills is best recognized for leading the company to a successful graduation from the Small Business Administration's 8(a) program in January 2000 and for developing new markets in the information technology field. He is also recognized for his skills in developing a telecommunications division that supports advanced DSL technology and wireless communications. Mr. Mills began his career with the United States Marine Corps in 1968, progressing over the years through the enlisted ranks and the warrant officer and limited duty officer ranks before retiring in 1989. He was then hired as a technician to help the government analyze avionics solutions for the V-22 Tilt Rotor Aircraft and to evaluate logistical support data for the program. Beginning his career in the electrical engineering field, Mr. Mills soon moved forward to aviation electronics. He was responsible for the oversight of aircraft maintenance programs, covering both fixed wing and helicopter aircraft. Mr. Mills also worked in the Navy's research and development laboratory in China Lake, Calif., with civilian engineering personnel developing missile seeker technology for the Army's laser guided artillery shell known as the "Copperhead", the Navy's Hellfire Missile Program and the "Aim 9M Sidewinder Missile" program. Mr. Mills's military career consisted of several trips overseas including one tour in Vietnam. He received three decorations, including two Navy Achievement Medals and one Navy Commendation Medal, for his work in the electronics engineering field. He left the military to pursue a career in business management. Mr. Mills earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aviation management from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. He also completed advanced training in electronics at various military technical schools, including the Aviation Maintenance Officer's course. |
